Team building to kick off the new academic year

08 August 2022

To kick off the beginning of a new academic year, the faculty and staff at the Academy had a day of team building. The activities brought together the entire school including the Junior School and Senior School teachers, the support staff and the entire admin team.

“A team building was held for all staff with an aim of motivating staff to work together, communicate better and appreciate each other’s contributions at different levels as we all work towards supporting students at the Academy,” said Stella Njagi, the HR Manager. “It is important to recognise that all staff are part of one big team.”

Let’s hear what some of the staff thought about it:

“The event was exciting and energising and the varied programme made the event more interesting.” Victoria Sada, receptionist

“The event provided us with an opportunity to bond across departments and reflect. I believe we came out more energised and focused as a team. Not forgetting that it was a lot of fun.” Ahmed Ibrahim, Course Coordinator- Foundation for Learning, Professional Development Centre

“Inspiring and breathtaking day!” Andrew Maina, Chef

“What a fun and dynamic way to break the ice. As a new member of staff, I got to meet new people, work with them on games, challenges and all sorts. It was a fun day of events that introduced me to the spirit of collaboration that underpins the Academy ethos. I’ve never had so much fun on a work team building day. I’ve never laughed that much. I’m really grateful for this introduction to the Academy and I’m looking forward to being an active member of the team. I know we will do great things with our students, and I can’t wait!” Pid’or Tampa, Senior School Theatre teacher

“It was thoroughly fun with varied engaging team activities and a hilarious facilitator. What a great way to welcome the new academic year!” Titus Mutemi, PYP Co-Ordinator

“It was a fun activity and I learned that if all the team members understand their individual roles the obstacles to the success of the team are reduced or eliminated altogether.” Gideon Ondeki, Events Co-Ordinator
