Meet Nelson Barasa: our new digital design and computer science teacher

Nelson Barasa from Nairobi, Kenya is joining the Academy as the new digital design and computer science teacher. He has previously worked at international schools in Nairobi for over a decade. Nelson completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Education and a Master’s degree in information systems. He is currently pursuing a PhD in computer science. 

In his new position, he looks forward to inspiring, motivating and nurturing computer programming skills in students and increasing their interest in technology studies. Nelson plans to uphold the mission and vision of the Academy by positively contributing to the development of future leaders. “Through meeting different people, understanding and appreciating cultures and giving back to our community we create future leaders. I will lead by example and will be here for support and to contribute to student enrichment. 

Nelson’s favourite part of the Academy is the Commons because it gives students, teachers and other Academy staff an opportunity to meet and interact. “ I look forward to meeting and spending time with everyone at the Academy and the entire school community.”
