Meet Beryl Owino: Our new History teacher

Beryl Owino from Western Kenya is joining AKA Mombasa as a History teacher. She has over five years’ experience in teaching and research and holds a Bachelor of Education and Master of Arts in History from Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology. Prior to joining the Academy, she was a teacher at Jan’s Senior Academy in Kisumu, Kenya.

As a new teacher at the Academy, Beryl said she aspires to cultivate a positive environment for students to excel. “I hope to create a positive environment that will encourage students to learn and share ideas in order to meet their educational needs. I also hope to inspire and motivate them to achieve the best of their abilities.”

Beryl Owino said she plans to uphold the mission and vision of the Academy by identifying and nurturing the students’ strengths and encouraging them to take up leadership roles that will enhance their self-confidence and communication skills. She also plans to create reflective tasks to nurture their emotional well-being to prepare them for the rapidly changing world.

For Beryl, the friendly and helpful staff who help to create a fantastic environment for teamwork, are her favourite part of the Academy.
