Eagles win 2011 Inter-House Sports Day

Last March, the Aga Khan Academy, Mombasa held its Junior school Sports Day, an inter-house competition, and the Eagle House emerged as the overall winners. The sports day, which was held on Wednesday March 26th, was a competitive day of activities. By the end of the day the Eagles had collected a total of 1936 points for the win, while the Hawks, Kestrels, and Falcons obtained 1884, 1782, and 1720 points respectively.

In the boy’s category, the Eagles won the Best Boys Trophy by collecting a total of 512 points in comparison to the Falcons’ 480 points. In the girl’s category, the Eagles also shined. They garnered a total of 490 points to capture the Best Girls Team Trophy. The Kestrels, Hawks, and Falcons, took 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place with 476, 457, and 448 points, respectively. In the mixed events, the Hawks were claimed victorious at 952 points with the Eagles in a close second at 944 points followed by the Kestrels at 880 and the Falcons at 736 points.

The captains and House Teachers of the four houses worked hard to coordinate the Sports Day, and to ensure a healthy, competitive atmosphere. The Eagles’ captains were Juneid Bawazir and Megan White, the Hawks’ captains were Dev Hirani and Wacera Muriuki, the Falcons’ captains were Saleh Hamada and Alyssa Thompson, and the Kestrels’ captains were Caleb Cameron and Erica Nondi.
