Unit on Deforestation

25 September 2013

Year 9 students took their learning from the unit on Deforestation further by planting  saplings on the Academy campus and pledging to take care of them.

The students started the unit by brainstorming about why forests are important to us and came up with presentations in groups. They developed slogans, skits and posters on the issue of deforestation.

The students had researched in class about the effect and impact of deforestation and discussed case studies related to mining, dams and other causes.

This class activity spurred the students to take on the project to plant saplings around the campus, which for many students is their home away from home.
