Syed Qizr Talal: A journey of learning and growth at the Aga Khan Academy Hyderabad
In the lead-up to the Class of 2025’s graduation from the Aga Khan Academy Hyderabad, we are featuring six of our graduates who have been at the Academy since Grade 1.
Below, we learn about Syed Qizr Talal and his time at the Academy.
From entering the Academy as an inquisitive first-grade student to graduating as a self-assured and driven young adult, Syed Qizr Talal's journey has been one of development, learning and profound influence. Qizr has developed both intellectually and personally over the years, shaped by the close-knit school community around him and the values of pluralism, ethical leadership and global mindedness that the Academy persistently nurtures.
Qizr's self-awareness is among his most remarkable qualities. Even though he always felt like he belonged, he always recognised areas for improvement. His personal development was fuelled by this balance. “The teachers' support and rigorous academic experiences helped me identify my passions and uncover new strengths,” he said. Although he initially envisioned a career in physics, the Academy's support and resources helped him discover his true vocation in biotechnology and biology-related subjects. He embraced this route both within and outside the Academy, including through participating in a summer course at Columbia University.
Qizr is a natural leader with a calm demeanour. He attributes much of his leadership growth to the environment that the Academy offers. He said, “Whether helming group presentations abroad or organising projects at home, I have learnt what it means to be a good leader — someone who uplifts others and leads with empathy.” The hydroponics farm project he initiated at the Academy is a testament to his stewardship—a reflection of his passion for sustainable innovation and his ability to coordinate a team around a shared goal of environmental advocacy.
Beyond academics, Qizr has been a pillar of the Academy community. From being a part of the IT and logistics in the Aga Khan Academy Hyderabad Model United Nations conference to helping orchestrate annual events like Mandaram, Qizr has always stepped up to the occasion and delivered beyond his assignments. Participating actively in such activities made Qizr future-ready while he created memorable moments that he says he will always hold close to his heart.
As he graduates, Qizr leaves behind not just a legacy of leadership and kindness, but the story of someone who truly grew with the Academy — and helped it grow in return. We wish Qizr the best of luck in his future endeavours.
