‘Strength and growth come only from continuous effort and struggle’

My journey at the Aga Khan Academy, Hyderabad started in September of 2015, about five years ago. Its unbelievable how time flies by so fast. It seems as if yesterday was the first day that I stepped into the Academy to study in grade 7 and in about ten months from now I will be graduating. The Academy is recognized as an institution of knowledge and is known to be one of the finest schools in Hyderabad however for me; it has always been a second home.

I remember being utterly confused when I first joined the Academy. Being exposed to a completely new culture, language, curriculum and environment was something I was unprepared for. However, fortunately for me the amiability of the staff and my fellow students at the Academy helped me adapt to the new environment and recognize its values.

Having spent five years in the Academy, I can confidently state that my time here has shaped my personality and led to personal growth and development that completely changed my life. The activities and events that are offered help its students develop various skills and strengths. The annual Model United Nation conferences encouraged me to develop public speaking skills and be aware about current affairs. Having keen interest in writing and current conflicts I took part in the MUNs as a journalist and even secured a few awards. Moreover the sports events that take place in the Academy encourage physical fitness while the cultural nights emphasize on the diversity of the student body and staff and teach us about embracing our cultures and traditions. Additionally, being a part of the residential program I learnt to be far from my home and parents which helped me become more independent and outgoing.

All in all, the Academy has always been a place that pushed me out of my comfort zone and helped me gain experience and grow by offering challenges that I initially thought I didn’t have the potential to deal with.
