Humans of Aga Khan Academy Hyderabad - Payrav Haqnazar

22 May 2020

If you could be magically transported to one specific location right now, where would it be?

If it would be anywhere, I would certainly wish that it would be home. It has been a little over 10 months since I have been home, and I want to be with my family during this difficult time because nothing can change and replace the love and warmth of home and family.

What are the top three things you are like about the Academy?

-The sense of community and being apart of a family the AKA Family.

-Nature, as our Academy is surrounded by lovely and beautiful nature.

-The teachers as they guide and teach no matter what

What is keeping you focused and positive? Any things you are finding beneficial about the lockdown?

The lockdown gave me a big opportunity and a lot of time to go into a reflective state of mind, to take a step back and just compartmentalize all my thoughts and feelings. I can focus on myself, as it's hard sometimes to understand and prioritize things during the normal school days that you tend to even sacrifice your sleep. By just focusing on the small things like making my bed in the morning, or starting my day with a hot cup of tea just gives me the motivation to make the most out of my day.

The biggest cause of frustration/challenge during lockdown?

The thought of not getting the chance to get back home this year, and meet my family. As it might be my last opportunity to spend time with them because next year, I am going to be caught up with Universities and it will be more than 2 years that I won't be able to see my family at that point as well only get to go home during the summer.

If you had a chance to pass on one piece of advice to your fellow students right now, what would it be?

The only thing that I would suggest to anyone right now, is to use this opportunity to its full potential as the lockdown freed up a lot of time from our daily routine. Try to use this time and do something for your self-investment, as it will benefit you in the long run. You can learn how to play a new musical instrument, learn a new language, start a workout routine, or finish reading a couple of books. I know it might be boring or might not seem like the right thing to do when you can just finish watching your favorite TV shows and series instead, but in the long run, it will benefit you more.
