Buddy Mentorship Programme

Being DP students for more than a year now, we often ponder about how making the right subject choices is one of the most challenging yet crucial parts of excelling in the Diploma Programme. Although there are numerous existing Career Guidance Programmes held for the students entering DP, we personally believe and have experienced that additional guidance from senior students who have been through the same phase has proven to be operational. However, approaching seniors and openly interacting with them could be a challenge for some. Henceforth, we have created a platform that brings together the experience-rich seniors and the novice juniors. For this programme, we have chosen a diversified group of competent students with varied subjects and skillsets who were willing to share their knowledge and experiences with upcoming DP-1 batch.

As buddies, we were not there to replace school support but were in the role of being supportive and approachable seniors. Some of the way in which we helped our participants were by exploring the rigour of the subjects, examining the student’s compatibility with the subject, identifying appropriateness of subjects with individual career prospects, sharing personal experiences, clearing academic doubts, providing preliminary study resources, educating them about the system and procedures of the Diploma Programme and lastly, giving them tips on standardised tests like SAT and ACT. Buddy Mentorship Programme is “an initiative for the students, by the students” and the foremost mission of this project is to put our hard-gained knowledge into full use to make sure that upcoming students enter DP with utter confidence and comfort to be the best version of themselves in this extraordinary journey.
