Meet Md Musle Uddin Bhuiya, head of teachers professional development and outreach

01 July 2022

Md Musle Uddin Bhuiya was born in Brahmanbaria, Bangladesh and is the new head of teachers professional development and outreach at the Aga Khan Academy Dhaka. Musle has been working in the field of educational development nationally and internationally since 2009. He is an expert in primary and basic education for out-of-school children, non-formal education and early grade reading.

Through his position, Musle stated that he aspires to achieve the mission and vision of the Aga Khan Academies by combining his expertise and skills to create effective teacher professional development initiatives with new-age skills.

“Earlier as a programme specialist at BRAC International, I led the development of teaching-learning packages for the out-of-school and community-based education programmes for Asia and Africa,” Musle said. “In my current role at the Aga Khan Academy Dhaka, I want to initiate, establish and develop the teacher professional development initiatives with 21st-century skills, including a high-quality programme to establish the Academy’s footprint through outreach.”

Prior to the Academy’s opening in August, Musle’s work had already begun with the Academy’s Teacher Preparation Programme, which trains local educators in becoming International Baccalaureate certified teachers. In addition, Musle is working with Concordia University and the Centre for the Study of Learning and Performance on the Knowledge and Innovation Exchange (KIX) project, which aims to improve children’s literacy skills by using literacy software. As part of KIX, Musle will work with local teachers through professional development sessions to implement the literacy software, which will then be integrated into the teachers’ classrooms. Through outreach, Musle is also closely liaising with relevant government entities to make projects such as KIX and others possible.

Musle said he loves the team spirit and feels proud to be a part of the Aga Khan Academy Dhaka.

“The team spirit is unique here at the Academy and I take immense pride to share the workspace with some dedicated and talented individuals,” Musle said. “It's not every day that you get to spend time doing what you love with those who inspire you to be your best!”
