AKA Dhaka organises PYP exhibition orientation for parents

On 3 May 2023, the Aga Khan Academy Dhaka welcomed parents of the Primary Years Programme (PYP) to attend the orientation session on the upcoming PYP exhibition by Grade 5 students. The session highlighted an empowering journey of the PYP and the importance of the PYP exhibition, where students will showcase inquiry-based learning and address critical global issues with creativity and determination.

PYP Coordinator Ms Tanjina Hossain introduced the parents' community to the expectations and roles they would play in supporting their children throughout this incredible journey. She further emphasised the shared commitment between the Academy, students and parents in empowering these young minds.

“The PYP exhibition showcases not only our students’ academic growth but also their ability to empathise, collaborate and take action,” Ms Tanjina said. “These young change-makers inspire us all to believe in the power of education in shaping a better world.”

Grade 5 students are divided into 14 groups for the upcoming exhibition. They vowed to address poverty, inequality and climate change issues and presented their issue-specific unit matrix to the parents. Everyone in attendance enjoyed the catchy slogans and messages students devised to explain their mission. The students also requested cooperation from the parents’ community to organise guest speaker sessions, field trips and other events related to their learning. At the end of their presentation, the students extended warm invitations to their parents to join them in a final celebration slated for June.
