06 August 2025

As the 2024–25 academic year drew to a close, the Aga Khan Academy Dhaka came together on 4 June for a reflective and celebratory year-end retreat in the newly constructed Commons. The gathering offered a meaningful opportunity to look back on the academic year’s achievements, recognise exceptional contributions by the faculty and staff, and bid farewell to three esteemed educators, some of whom are retiring or pursuing new opportunities after years of remarkable service.

This year’s retreat was especially signifcant as the Academy honoured the legacies of Ms Fahmida Chowdhury, Senior School Principal; Ms Usha Kasana, Diploma Programme Coordinator; and Ms Ira Shrivastav, Middle Years Programme Coordinator. Their leadership and unwavering commitment have left an indelible mark on the Academy community, and their departure was met with heartfelt appreciation and nostalgia.

The event also recognised teachers and administrative and support staff with appreciation certificates presented for their outstanding dedication throughout the year. In her address, Head of AcademyMs Suvina Shunglu acknowledged the essential role every team member plays in the Academy’s success. She also commended the community for their collective effort in advancing the Academy’s mission.

“Everyone here plays a vital role,” Ms Suvina said. “Your leadership wherever you are at the Academy is what drives us forward. It is your commitment, your spirit and your resilience that continue to shape our path to excellence.”

The retreat served as more than just a celebrationit offered a space for thoughtful reflection on the academic year's challenges and triumphs and a chance to gather insights that will inform the academic year ahead. As the Academy community recharges for the new academic cycle, the spirit of unity and purpose remains strong, driving the shared goal of nurturing students to become thoughtful, capable and compassionate global citizens.
