Play golf, change a life

On Saturday 12 March, the Friends of the Academy organised a golf tournament at the Nyali Golf Club to raise funds for the Aga Khan Academy Mombasa’s Talent Identification Programme (TID). This programme identifies exceptional Grade 6 students across Kenya from marginalised backgrounds and provides them with a full scholarship for seven years to attend the Academy, which is an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School.

Raphael Mwachiti: studying Computer Science at the University of British Columbia

Raphael Mwachiti has been accepted to the University of British Columbia – Okanagan Campus – to pursue a degree in Computer Science. He Joined the Aga Khan Academy Mombasa in 2015 through the Talent Identification Programme, which provides exceptional students with an international-standard education and leadership opportunities, regardless of their ability to pay.

Partnership for teacher preparation

The Aga Khan Academies are partnering with other institutions to achieve the goal of developing high quality teachers locally. One such partnership is with the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Canada.
