“Every second that I am here, I want to use this properly because this chance will never come again in my life,” says 14-year-old Arzou Lashkari.
Arzou is one of 12 students from Afghanistan and Tajikistan who have come to the Aga Khan Academy Hyderabad. They are part of a programme that expands the diversity of the student body while providing an outstanding education to talented students who cannot access high quality schooling in their home environments.
The first two Canadian teachers have arrived at the Academy in Mombasa, signalling the start of a unique teacher secondment programme offered in partnership between the Ontario Ministry of Education and the Aga Khan Academies network.
Organised under the theme “Let’s build peace through diversity”, the Ottawa Peace Talks aims to inspire reflection and discussion about how respect for diversity can promote more peaceful societies through inclusion, both in Canada and globally.
