AKA Mombasa's Class of 2020 Graduates

On Saturday 23 May, the Aga Khan Academy Mombasa celebrated the graduation of 67 exceptionally talented students from their Class of 2020, at a specially planned ‘virtual graduation ceremony’.

Prince Rahim Aga Khan visits the Aga Khan Academy Mombasa with his wife Princess Salwa

Earlier this month, Prince Rahim Aga Khan and his wife Princess Salwa visited the Aga Khan Academy Mombasa, meeting with students, faculty and administrators to learn more about the Academy's initiatives to further incorporate teaching on the environment and climate change into our curriculum.

Fostering relationships through virtual exchange

In preparation for their annual exhibitions, Grade 5 students from the Aga Khan Academies in Hyderabad and Maputo had a virtual conversation discussing the topics and ideas they will be presenting. The students in Hyderabad gave their colleagues in Maputo a closer look into their booths which prompted students to draw similarities and parallels between their work.

President of the Republic of Portugal visits the Aga Khan Academy Maputo

His Excellency President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa visited the Aga Khan Academy in Maputo on 13 January, while in Mozambique for the inauguration of its new President. He was accompanied by Ms Teresa Ribeiro, Secretary of State of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Portuguese Government, and Ms Maria Amélia de Paiva, Portugal’s Ambassador to Mozambique.

The Aga Khan Academies’ Student Exchange Programme comes to Maputo

On Thursday 14 November 2019, the International Exchange Manager for the Aga Khan Academies, Elizabeth MacFarlane, conducted two sessions introducing the Student Exchange Programme, which will now engage Aga Khan Academy Maputo students. Introduced in 2018, the exchange enables Academies’ Year 9 students to study and live at another Academy for three months, from the end of August to the beginning of December.

Exploring stories of Mozambican environment through Camera Lens

This week, our Grade 9 students at the Aga Khan Academy Maputo are participating in a photography and journalism workshop with Frederic Roberts and his team.

Eighteen students from Grade 9 aged between 14 and 15 years are taking part in the workshop along with three of our staff members who are also learning alongside the students.  The Academy is also hosting ten students from the nearby school, Ana Mogas, who are taking part in the workshop.
