Sitting Volleyball

A team of student volunteers assisted as ball catchers at the National Sitting Volleyball women’s team selection competition held over the weekend. The Mombasa team holds its weekly practice in the MPH and their chairman had approached the Academy asking for our assistance in hosting this competition where teams from ten counties converge on Mombasa. Such an event fits well with CAS aims of providing assistance in meeting community needs and our own outreach programme, building bridges into the community.

The competition resulted in four Mombasa players being selected to advance to the next round which will then see a National team compete in the Zone 5 finals for East African countries to be held in Uganda in October. Ultimately the winners will compete at the International Sitting Volleyball Games being held in Poland in June 2014. We wish the Kenyan team every success as they pursue their dreams.
