Welcome back assembly

22 October 2020

After a two-week break, students and staff are back to online learning at the Aga Khan Academy Maputo. To welcome everyone back and make them feel connected to each other, the leadership team organised a virtual whole school assembly on 21 October with everyone wearing their House colours.

This virtual assembly began with some warm-up exercises led by the Academy's Physical Education teacher, Elves Saltador. Across Zoom, all students and staff could be seen taking part in the exercises from their homes.

“It was wonderful to see so many students in their House colours for our first whole school assembly this new term,” Junior School Principal Maike Silver expressed.

After the warm-up session, Head of Academy Mike Spencer welcomed everyone back and provided an update on the reopening of the Academy. This was followed by an engaging activity where students had to guess the House colour of the new Academy teachers. Students took part in this activity with full enthusiasm, making it feel as if they were all physically together at school.

For the closing of the assembly, Mike read the story, "The Three Questions" based on a story by Leo Tolstoy leaving everyone with a wonderful message:

" ...there is only one important time, and the time is now.

The most important one, is the one you are with.

And the most important thing is to do good for the one who is standing at your sight...That is why we are here."
