Really Wild

26 February 2015

Grade 1

explored a unit entitled Really Wild for which the central idea was that all animals need a home.

The children found out about animal homes, classification, food, surroundings and how their environments are changing. This was an exciting unit that sparked the children’s scientific inquiry skills. The summative assessment involved researching, developing and then representing an environment for their imaginary pet.

They were all thrilled to welcome parents into their class and they sang their hearts out to “Frozen” and “Do you want to build a snowman?” !

The children were also very pleased to show their learning and were able to describe in detail their new conceptual understandings.
