Meet the Aga Khan Academy Maputo’s school counsellor, Raffaela Corrias

Hailing from both Italy and Canada, Raffaela Corrias embodies a rich cultural background in supporting the emotional well-being of individuals. She first served as a school counsellor in Japan and Thailand, enriching her understanding of diverse cultural contexts and educational systems. Before joining the international school circuit officially, Raffaela collaborated with charitable organisations, focusing on the well-being of individuals in Italy, Israel, Palestinand the Balkans.  

In her position at the Aga Khan Academy Maputo, Raffaela is eager to collaborate with colleagues to nurture the intellectual and emotional growth of the Academy's students. Her primary focus is to educate students on the significance of self-reflection, dialogue and empathy, fostering a more profound understanding of themselves and the world around them. 

Raffaela is dedicated to upholding the Academy’s vision and mission by prioritising the holistic development and well-being of each student. She believes that by encouraging curiosity, self-discovery and fostering a sense of community, students can grow into exceptional individuals regardless of their backgrounds. 

Her favourite aspect of the Academy thus far is the peopleas they wholeheartedly believe in the Academy's vision and mission, creating a supportive and vibrant environment for both students and staff.
