Assemblies at the Academy
We had a fabulous assembly on Friday, 15 September 2017 highlighting some of the learning taking place across all of the grades.
Kindergarten 3 and grade 1 showcased their learning about The Very Hungry Caterpillar. They sang about the order of days and what the caterpillar ate. They knew all the words in both Portuguese and English. Next came a medley of dances from grades 3 and 5 showing how they express themselves through dance. They performed two dances – one in an Indian style and the other western style. Last but not the least, the grades 6 and 7 performed excerpts from A Menina Sem Palavra by Mia Couto.
Tivémos uma Assembleia fabulosa na Sexta-feira, dia 15 de Setembro de 2017, na qual se destacaram as aprendizagens que estão a ter lugar nos diferentes anos.
O Pré-3 e o 1o Ano demonstraram a sua aprendizagem sobre a Lagarta Comilona (The Very Hungry Caterpillar). Cantaram sobre os dias da semana e sobre o que a lagarta ia comendo. Sabiam todas as palavras em inglês e em português. De seguida foi apresentada uma coreografia preparada pelos 3o e 5o Anos com demonstração de expressão corporal através de duas danças de dois estilos, o indiano e o ocidental. Finalmente, os alunos dos 6o e 7o anos representaram excertos do livro A Menina Sem Palavra de Mia Couto.
Grade 2 assembly presentation / 2o Ano na Assembleia
Grade 2 students presented their unit of inquiry ‘Where we are in place in time’ in the school assembly. They presented different physical features and climatic regions, and different types of attire worn by people around the world according to the climate. Also, they composed a song and sang in front of the whole school.
Os alunos do 2o Ano apresentaram a sua unidade de investigação “Onde estamos no espaço e no tempo”: as diferentes características físicas e regiões climáticas, diferentes tipos de trajes usados pelas pessoas à volta do mundo e de acordo com o clima. Além disso, ainda compuseram e cantaram uma canção diante de toda a escola.
Grade 3 assembly presentation / 3o Ano na Assembleia
Grade 3 students are looking at Children's Rights and Responsibilities as their first unit of inquiry, and they shared their learning with the whole school in the assembly. They talked about rights of children and how to be a responsible citizen. Each student presented in his/her mother tongue (including Gujarati, Changana, Portuguese and English), and the presentation was enjoyed by the whole school.
Os alunos do 3o Ano estão a estudar os Direitos e Deveres da Criança como a sua primeira unidade de investigação. Partilharam com toda a escola o que têm vindo a aprender: falaram sobre os direitos das crianças e de como se pode ser um cidadão repsonsável. Cada aluno apresentou a sua língua materna (incluindo gujarati, changana, português e inglês) o que foi apreciado por todos.
Grade 4 assembly presentation / 4o Ano na Assembleia
Grade 4 presented their learning from the current unit of inquiry ‘Who we are’ through a song called ‘We are Unity’ in the school assembly. They explained to the audience how all humans are united. Despite of the fact that people belong to different cultures, traditions and speak different languages, everyone should be respected and treated equally.
O 4o Ano apresentou na assembleia a sua aprendizagem sob a unidade de investigação “Quem Somos?” através de uma canção intitulada “We are Unity” (Nós somos a União). Explicaram à audiência como todos os humanos estão unidos. Apesar das diferentes culturas, tradições e diferentes línguas, todos devem ser respeirados e tratados de igual forma.
