Academy theatre troupe bags another award

08 February 2019

At this year’s BENFEST, held on Saturday, 2nd February 2019, students of the AKA Hyderabad won first place for their performance of the skit, Women. 22 students from the Academy participated, eight of whom took part in the skit competition.

BENFEST is an annual cultural fest held at Little Flowers High School in Hyderabad. This year's installment saw 15 schools participating in the skit competition, which was one of several competitions at the interschool festival. Academy students also participated in classical music and dance categories. Our winning play was written by students in collaboration with drama facilitator, Chandrasekhar Indla. The four minute play was about gender bias and the empowerment of women.

Students of the Academy drama programme are no strangers to competitive victory, having built a considerable trophy case over the past few years. Read more about the Academy theatre programme and our drama faculty, Chandrasekhar Indla, here. “The students have shown initiative in this play,” says Chandrasekhar, “and I’m proud of how well they have done.”
