Swahili Day Style

10 June 2013

Last Friday was Swahili Day—a day for celebrating the colourful clothing, tasty bitings, henna painting, music and all things Swahili. The Academy embraces the day with flair—with everyone dressing in their best Swahili clothing—bright and stylish and what’s more, wonderfully cool! A special lunch was provided by catering staff that included traditional Swahili food.

Later in the afternoon there was a concert with songs, poems, skits and even a short play—all in Kiswahili. There is nothing like Swahili Day, a day that transcends gender, race or tribe, to bring everyone together in their colourful Swahili clothes to celebrate as a community.
