AKA, Mombasa Students Play Ball With The Toronto Raptors

10 September 2014

On August 13th, Mombasa hosted Toronto Raptors President and General manager Masai Ujiri for the final leg of his trip to Africa. He was accompanied by Raptors’ Assistant Coach Jama Mahlalela and Denver Nuggets’ Assistant Coach Patrick Mutombo. Also in his entourage were other members of the Toronto Raptors franchise.

The 40 students who attended the camp, held at the Kenya Ports Authority courts, were taken through vigorous basketball fundamentals sessions.

Masai’s dedication to developing youth at the grassroots level in Africa has been going on for the last 12 years and this year’s visit to Kenya took him to two cities, Nairobi and Mombasa.

Eleven Aga Khan Academy, Mombasa students participated in the camp and were accompanied by our school’s Physical Education teachers Antony Ndungu and Jane Warutere.
