KITE 2016 Flies High!

26 January 2016

The sky above the Aga Khan Academy came alive with colour on 14 and 15 January as kites of every shape and description took flight from the Academy's grounds.

During the Sankranti holiday, the Academy played host to KITE 2016, the first festival of its kind in the region, which celebrated the rich kite and craft traditions of the Deccan region while promoting girl child education.

The two-day event was an initiative of the Department of Youth Advancement, Tourism and Culture of the Telangana State Government, in collaboration with the Academy; Shilparamam, the arts, crafts and cultural village; the Architecture and Design Foundation, India; and the Royal Kite Flyers Club of India.

Large numbers of visitors came to the Academy for the event, with over 6,000 people attending over the two days.
